afghans for Afghans

Hi Purls!
Ok, I have an idea/request/offer for you all. I'm working on some baby knits to send to afghans for Afghans. They're asking for wool hats, socks, and blankets for newborn babies. The deadline for this particular campaign is December 3; I'm planning to send my stuff the week of Thanksgiving.
If anyone is interested in whipping up a little hat or two, bring it to next week's meeting and I'll ship it for you. The projects they need are so small (well, except the blankets) that they knit up really fast. I made this hat in a couple hours of tv watching last night, and I think I'll finish the next one tonight.

100% wool only or any yarn or washable wool?

They ask for 100% wool or blends with more than 75% wool. Other animal fibres are ok, too--I have some alpaca/wool that I'm going to use this weekend. I don't think that it has to be washable--they ask that we avoid making items in all-white or really light colors because they stain/show dirt more.
Fiber guidelines are here: http://www.afghansforafghans.org/aboutfibers.html
